He is 5 months and potty trained. He will just jump at you and start peeing a little.

HE... is growing up and you probably have a little natural alpha pet on your hands. He is not giving someone the respect of the alpha position in your home or he would not be marking..

If you ever plan on breeding him then you can't scold for this or he will not breed.. If you never plan on breeding then neuter him.

Most only breed the ones that have at least 4 titles in the background of the parents and grand parents plus have earned their own titles...

You need to decide which way to go on this and ... And decide is it he pees or not....

Getting him neutered would "pees" the peoples .. hahhaha

GOOD LUCK

The most common signs are frequent urination, straining to urinate, producing small amounts of urine, and blood in the urine. However, not all dogs exhibit the common signs. Sorry, but the best thing to do is check with the vet.

Ah - from the additional details it sounds like excited wetting - very normal for a pup. When you come home (or anyone enters), ignore him until he calms down. When you do finally greet him, keep it low-key. Being excited will cause him to lose control. If he just can't settle until you say hello, try throwing a toy for him when you enter. This gets him focused on something else and allows him to interact with you in a less hands-on way. After tossing the toy a few times, take him out or do what you would normally do, but wait a minute or two to pet him. Again, keep it low-key. With time he will likely outgrow this.

And, I have NO CLUE what the post below mine is about. That is the most bizarre theory (dog won't breed if he is scolded for marking?!?) that I have ever heard.

If the critter is urinating in small amount (quarter sized) then this could be a sign of a UTI (urinary tract infection). At 5 months we are too young to be 'marking', so it's worth it to have the urine checked out by the Doc.

With a UTI, you won't necessarily *see* blood, but the frequent urination is the biggest indicator

well he is probably just marking his territory....our old dog did this a lot and his favorite spot was right by the dinning room table......signs of it being a bladder thing would be him telling you he needs out but not making it out....if you know what i mean.

he is perfect age for you to get him neutered.. this will stop the marking - but do it fast so this doesnt become a habit... you say he is housebroken,,, are you so sure about this?? also, crate training is a good idea...
