The small crew cab I think that is what is called does not really hold a car sear well and my son is a large eleven year old. I really think I need the four door type. I drive alot of miles so I need something that will last.

The only type of vehicle I would advise against is a small truck. You are going to want a vehicle that will be able to tow the trailer + the horse, which means you might be looking at a towing capacity over 8,000 lbs. You are going to want to get a full size truck if your load is this heavy. I am partial to Dodge and GMC because I have worked at both types of dealerships. In the Dodge you might want to check out the 2WD ( they can tow more than 4WD ) Ram 1500 Quad Cab or Mega Cab...the mega cab as the interior space of an SUV so you have more room. GMC does have the new and sexy 2007 Sierra 1500 2WD Crew Cab. Hope this helps and good luck!!!

Stay away from all that are not well equipped. You will need, Full size, Crew Cab, 4WD, Automatic Trans, OD, Trailer package, Short Bed, Diesel, Big Engine, Steering Brakes and Air, Leather. If you are using the PU for daily transportation I would suggest a half Ton. If mostly pulling the trailer, 3/4 T for sure.

Now go for the brand that has the best dealer service, its an even bet, if you get 10 answerer's to your question, there will be one that tells you his brand is the worst.

Happy hunting, guess you will have 4 horse trailer with a room in front. I suppose you are thinking Fifth Wheel.

If you want a Diesel, Get a quad cab Dodge Diesel with a 5 speed transmission, if want A gas engine get a Chevrolet or GMC, stay away from the Ford 6.0 Diesel- Ford is suing international and international suing ford. It is a terrible motor. Also Ford has the worst dependable rating on a 1/2 ton PU, according to nearly everyone.

There really is no truck you should stay away from. Contrary to popular belief, all car makers build good, high quality vehicles. Do research and purchase the one that is best for you. The current leaders in the market are the Ford F series (the best selling vehicle for the past 30 years) and the all new Chevy Silverado. The Silverado looks like its the new benchmark for the class, even with the new Toyota Tundra coming out (which is god awful ugly). There are just some things that America does best and one of them is trucks.

The dodge dakota with the v8 should handle the horse trailer and you can also hold 4 kids with the crew cab. This gets better mileage than the ram, and is much smaller and easier to handle.

Dodge unless diesel with manual transmission. U.S. car makers cannot build a good automatic transmission. So any Ford,Dodge,or G.M. buy a manual. If you want to keep us working buy Toyota.,The rest are made in Mexico.
