I'm trying do this as cheap as possible. I am paying for 2 apartments for 3 more months.

Well, you need a Cable tuner to replace your TV's tuner.
- Fix your TV, probably $50+ to change the connector, maybe cheaper
- You can rent a set-top from your cable company. Should not be more than $5-10/month
- If you have a VCR (or DVD recorder or anything else with a tuner), pass the cable signal through the VCR and then connect the VCR output to your TV (assuming the VCR has at least composite output)

You can run it to the VCR and then the RCA jacks to the tv. Just do a channel scan. However, if you have HD it's not going to look all that great.

appears like you want a opposite RF modulator, i do not recognize if the kind of aspect exist. the straightforward and inexpensive answer is to discover an previous VCR (operating or not) with a coax enter and pink, white and yellow outputs and use it to rework your signal
