It is a classic muscle car that has been modified to powerful and fast...this is an extention of their phallic ideal....what they want their masculinity to be. Thus...if they have a Hot Rod car...they probably do not have a Hot Rod in their pants

they first came to the attention of the public following ww2. vets came home and new cars were kinda scarce and expensive. these vets would remodel an old car usually a ford with the new v8 engines and "soup them up." many millions of vets learned a lot about machinery in ww2 and the would do all sorts of things to the engines to make them more powerful. in so doing the engines were literally hotter; thus, came the term "hot rods." if you don't know where the rods are in the internal combution engine, well, i just don't have time to explain. in short, they made cars much faster and exciting than detroit offered. homemade hot rods. those kinds of cars were famous for hauling moonshine whiskey in the south and actually is the launching point of today's nascar races. that is it in a nutshell.(no, it is not sexual.)
