I love german sheperds and my fav is a siberian husky my mom won't let me get any animal that walk. DOGS are so cute and sweet.

I have an American Akita. This breed is also known as the Japanese Akita but American Akita's are bigger.
The Akita was crossed with Mastiff Dogs and possible Great Danes. However, during the war they were bred with German Shepherds. So, The German Shepherd and Akita have a great deal in common. I think the Akita is the next step up in dog terms to a German Shepherd. Akita's are bigger and are better fighters but German Shepherds I would say are smarter dogs - Although the Akita is known for how smart it is.

I LOVE DOBERMANS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...
I dont have one... YET! I dont have the space or the money for one, but as soon as I do Im gonna get a male.
I love them because they are soooooooooooo affectionate!!!! The term "velcro dog" really fits them. I think it sad they have such a bad rap, Because I have NEVER seen a more LOYAL breed in my entire life!
I love the Protective instinct. It seems to be perfectly balanced. You can trust them with your kid, friends, family, even those you just met and they will be fine, but if they ever even TRY to hurt you, BAM, your dobie is on it! And they can be QUITE convincing!!! After all, they are the ONLY breed specificly bred for personal protection.
They are also very very intelligent. They can be trained to do ANYTHING. I even know a guy, that attended hunting field trials with his 2 dobermans, AND placed toward the top often. They are great Therapy Dogs, Schutzhund, hearding (believe it or not), Search and rescue and more! They are also the BEST at companionship.
I also love thier attitude. This is where the OWNER usually gets in trouble. Alot of people dont realize that if you dont take ABSOLUTE control over your dobe, then your dobe will control you. They have to know that YOU are in charge, period. I love that strong personality. BUT, I can handle it also. Every dog I have ever had KNEW I was in charge.

German Shepherds are fantastic dogs!!!!! I own a 15 month old male German bred GSD whose name is Kirby. he is my heart dog! I couldn't ask for a better dog, he is intelligent, lovable, great with my little boys, he saved my youngest son from going into a busy road by herding him back to me...he is the best dog I have ever owned. I also like to call him my velcro-dog since he follows me everywhere and sulks when he can't go!

Belgian Malinois rule too!!!
I have had both GSDs and Malinois, and they both are great breeds, although I think that Malinois need a very experienced owner which is not always true with the GSDs. I currently have a rescued male Malinois, so maybe I am a little biased :)
I also like French Bulldogs and Bernese Mountain Dogs, which I also own.

I have a German Shepherd named Sable. Shepherd's are my favorite dog and have been since I was a kid. Mine, like most, are excellent with my kids.

aww. I love German sheperds. they love you protect you and will always be there for you. I don't have one but I'm getting one and I know many people who have them. My best friend rescued a german sheperd named Duke and he is just the sweetest thing you will ever see. He won't leave her ever and if she leaves him he will whine untill she comes back its soooo cute. but i would have to say my favorite breed is the siberian husky. there so friendly and act a lot like german sheperds. I actually have 2 shih-tzu/poodle named Monty and Max they are great dogs too. I think all dogs are great and IM glad we get to have them in our lives.

Oh my goodness, I TOTALLY TOTALLY agree!!! They are my FAVORITE type of dog EVER!!! I don't have a dog...but if I did I'd definitely want a german shepherd. give callie a hug for me :)
