No, he should be fine..tomatoes are from a family called 'nightshade' and do have some toxins, but it would take more then licking a plate to do him serious harm. I would feed him a lot of something he really likes, (to dilute the tomato) and expect loose stools.
My 2 pups shared 3 pounds of tomatoes, and pooped catsup for 2 days!

Tomatoe sauce is NOT bad for dogs. Chocolate is BAD for dogs. The only thing the tomatoe sauce may do is give your dog indigestion from the acidity of the sauce. He'll be fine.
My two dogs LOVE salad tomatoes. Been eating them for years. My pups are 15 and 12 lbs. One is 12 yrs and the other is 1-1/2. Other things they like are raw carrots, beans, peas, most veggies except lettuce. Those are their treats as is their kibble.
Hope this makes you feels better!

Your dog will be fine.......I would however, come up with a plan to keep your garbage can locked, or in an area where the dog won't go shopping. Dogs are garbage mouths, be careful because some of the things they eat are really bad for them, I think the tomato sauce will be okay. Other bad foods are, chocolate.and onions.

While tomato sauce may be a bit high in sodium, licking a plateful should do no harm to an otherwise healthy dog.

You may want to contact your vet...The sauce itself will not hurt your dog, however, some of the ingredients can. See the following:
Onions/Garlic:
Onions and garlic contain the toxic ingredient thiosulphate. Onions are more of a danger.
Pets affected by onion toxicity will develop haemolytic anaemia, where the pet’s red blood cells burst while circulating in its body. Symptoms include Hemolytic Anemia, labored breathing, liver damage, vomiting, diarrhea, discolored urine.
The poisoning occurs a few days after the pet has eaten the onion. All forms of onion can be a problem including dehydrated onions, raw onions, cooked onions and table scraps containing cooked onions and/or garlic. Left over pizza, Chinese dishes and commercial baby food containing onion, sometimes fed as a supplement to young pets, can cause illness.
While garlic also contains the toxic ingredient thiosulphate, it seems that garlic is less toxic and large amounts would need to be eaten to cause illness.
Mushrooms:
Mushroom toxicity does occur in dogs and it can be fatal if certain species of mushrooms are eaten. Amanita phalloides is the most commonly reported severely toxic species of mushroom in the US but other Amanita species are toxic. Symptoms include Abdominal pain, drooling, liver damage, kidney damage, vomiting diarrhea, convulsions, coma, death

i would likely take him to the vet for going through the trash,
and yes, according to lacetoleather.com, yes, tomatoes are dangerous to dogs. it doesn't mention tomato soup, but better to be safe than sorry! it's worth the small amount of money and time to be safe!
Tomatoes (plant and fruit) contain tomatine, an alkaloid related to solanine. As the fruit ripens, the tomatine is metabolized. Therefore, ripe tomatoes are less likely to be problematic for animals. Clinical signs of poisoning include lethargy, drooling, difficulty breathing, colic, vomiting, diarrhea or constipation, widely-dilated pupils, paralysis, cardiac effects, central nervous system signs (e.g., ataxia, muscle weakness, tremors, seizures), resulting from cholinesterase inhibition, coma and death. (This information comes from veterinarians, and the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center.) (All parts of the plant except the tomato itself are poisonous to humans, although some people are sensitive to the ripe fruit also.)
Tomatoes also contain atropine, which can cause dilated pupils, tremors, and heart arrhythmias. The highest concentration of atropine is found in the leaves and stems of tomato plants, with less in unripe (green) tomatoes, and even less in ripe (red) tomatoes.
hope this helps!

No, it's fine. My dog loves tomato products, including tomato sauce. Our vet said it's not a problem.

Well, he should be fine. It might cause a little heartburn for him since he is not used to that much citric acid. If he burps or his tummy rolls and bubbles or he has diahrrea (which I doubt but just in case), give him a spoonful or two of yogurt to neutralize the acid and replace the helpful bacteria in his digestive tract that can be lost from stomach upset.
I have one doxie that loves tomato soup, and another that runs from the ketchup bottle. No need to panic, lol.

some tomato sauce is not gonna hurt yer dog. he might throw it up but it's not gonna hurt him. save yourself some money and take him outside. if his tummy is bothering him he will eat some grass. the grass will actually help yer dog throw up. then he'll feel all better!
