I'm a nurse and recently we admitted a patient with Typhoid. Infection controll said that because she was being treated we didn't need to isolate. We all nursed her using universal precations but some of us are getting sick.

Well, seeing that typhoid is spread by the faecal-oral route, either there was a leak in observing universal precaution, or it's something else.

I'd think it's something else, unless 'getting sick' means exhibiting early symptoms of typhoid.

What symptoms? And how/where did she contract typhoid? That may be a clue.

It is possible if you did not use full universal precautions that you will get sick. If you have been immunized against this then you might get sick but not as bad.
Could be another bug that is circulating.
If the patient has been on treatment long enough to kill the virus but she still has symptoms then you shouldn't get the disease, it treatment was B 4 admission
