My wedding will take place in my home and have no more than fifty guests. Instead of ushers, would it be appropriate to have two girls (ages 12 and 13) direct the guests to a seat? I'm trying to find a role for them in my wedding and I don't yet have ushers.

I think it's perfect, it's your wedding, and that's a great way to honor those 2 girls. Check with your groom to make sure he doesn't have someone else in mind for ushers (since they're usually groomsmen). But I say go for it!

I think this sounds great, BUT be sure that these girls know what the deed entails. I can recall I was the director for the guest book at a cousins wedding when I was 13, I did not do a good job. I was embarrassed and hesitant to talk to people I didnt know. So my poor cousin only got a guest book signed by our family.

Thes girls may not be quite confident enough to do this job, but it may help that they have a partner. I just wanted to warn you from my own personal experience.

I think that would be a great idea. It's your wedding you can have who ever you want as ushers. Go ahead and let the girls do the usher job and enjoy your wedding day.

Good Luck

Of course you could do this if you prefer.

When it comes to the seating of the mothers and grandmothers, you might want to have this honor performed by the groom , rather than your young ushers.

In the end, it is your wedding and you should hold true to what you want , rather than the demands of others.

If you want traditional ushers, and still want to have something for the young ladies to do, you could have them stationed at the guest sign in book to help let guests know to please sign the book. they could also hand out tiny flyers to the guests that give information as to the names of the wedding party and also give the new or continued address of the newly married couple.

Not a thing wrong with female ushers.

Some people call teenagers handing out the programs "Greeters," so that is one idea of a title to give them.

It would be nice if you gave them each a corsage, or a flower to put in her hair.

You can do whatever you want. It's your wedding. There's no reason why you can't use these girls as your ushers. It sounds lovely.

That sounds just fine. Buy them nice dresses to wear and they will love the opportunity.
