Be sure to boil the rice in extra water, and cook it for 40 mins to an hour or so, so the puppy can digest it better. (about 3 cups of water-to one cup of rice)
If the vet checked for parasites and virus, then your pup's condition is most likely as the vet said.
If he isn't better shortly, then I would call the vet again in the morning.
Don't worry about him being inactive, as it is better for him to conserve strength.

Puppies will eat anything! Just as some toddlers do..

getting a second opinion is never wrong, just different views on the same topic. Typically when you see frank (red) blood in the stool, this can indicate parasites, stress, or sensitive stomach. Since you have already done the stool sample, and have been feeding the boiled hamburger (and it SHOULD be boiled) and rice, this bland diet is used in the short term to help with stomach upset. If, after a few days, there still is blood, then take him in to another vet.

It's not unusual for a pup in the first few days home to be a little overwhelmed, this should pass.

Now, if pup gets lethargic, then take him in immediately!

If you just brought the pup home it should be examined by the vet you will be using immediately. Blood and mucous in poo is a sign of an irritated digestive system most of the time but can be a sign of more dangerous concerns to a small pup. Best to be safe than sorry. Let YOUR vet examine this pup. Good luck!

Personally I would call the person you got the dog from, tell them whats going on. Then call another vet and just ask them for a second opinion. a puppy gets in to a million things, but bloody stools is concerning. I wish you and the puppy the best luck, remeber if your not happy with the answer the vet gives you, call another vet for a second opinion. Find a vet that truely cares about your dog!!

The fact that the vet didn't ask that you bring the puppy down along with the stool sample suggests to me that he/she is lazy at best, incompetent at worst.

See another vet, pronto. Any vet that wouldn't want to examine your dog is a loser. There are plenty of relatively minor illnesses that could cause what you're observing, but there are enough potentially major causes to certainly warrant examination (such as a perforated intestine).

Man - just thinking about this has me pissed off! After you see a REAL vet, make sure to call those losers back and give them a piece of your mind!

Best of luck.

I'm really sorry, but your question is all over the place and I'm really not understanding what you're saying. If the vet said there's sticks in the poo, then listen to him. If he eats more, then maybe you should rake your yard to get rid of the sticks. i think you said he's lazy? Well, a 14 week old puppy should be full of energy, maybe you need to play with him more to keep his mind off eating sticks.

Trust the vet, dogs will eat just about anything. He is tired and lazy because he doesn't feel good, like us if we have a stomach ache. The cooked rice should help and soothe your pup, one day they are down and before you know it, they are well and running all over. He'll be okay, just let him rest, he'll let you know when he wants more activity and food. Also, feed a quality food, not the white bag that says "dog food", get some good food so your pup will grow strong and happy.

I would consult another doctor. I went through the same thing and after 800 dollars in vet bills, went to a new doc tha said it was dis temper and had to put him to sleep..I do not ant to scare you, but it may be possible. My pup ended up with seizures before he was put to sleep. Could also be parvo or intestinal worms. Good luck..

Have the vet test for giarrdia and coccidia.. Both will cause runny and bloody stool and must be treated.. I cannot imagine how a pup could have sticks in its stool..Unless its a large dof and likes to eat them..

Get the vet to put it in writing. The person you bought the puppy from should have to pay all of the vet bills. If not or if the poor puppy dies, take her to small claims court. I hope the puppy is better soon. Please watch what he eats carefully.
