You need permanent resident status. They do have a permanent resident ID card now as well.

For skilled worker class immigration, you need 67 points out of a maximum 100 possible. See:

There is no longer a strategic work sector occupation list that ranks occupations and gives them point values for immigration. Instead, they now have you arrange employment in advance and the government will assess whether or not they think that your job will last, and it's good for 10 points. See more here:

As a US or Canadian citizen, travelling by land or sea, you only need proof of citizenship (which must be passport, birth certificate, or naturalization papers) and valid photo ID (which must be US or Canadian driver's license, passport, or military ID). If travelling by air, you need a passport, period. If not a US or Canadian citizen (regardless of permanent residency status), you must have a valid passport. If you are on a work visa or are a permanent resident, you must have that visa or 'green card' documentation with you as well. And yes - Canada does have a permanent residency program. The document is called a PR card (which is now plastic like a credit card, compared with the old paper copies). Try checking the official Canada Immigration website. They have a lot of useful information. There are also local province regulations for work in that province that you may need to look out for, such as special rules for working and schooling in Quebec, due to its francophone protection laws.

you have to become a canada resident..
when i wanted to move to canada i read up on it and i read that you had to take test and be sworn in i could find the info for you and let you know more
