My 20 year old daughter has been taking medication for graves disease, now her doctor is talking about radioactive iodine. I'm terrified this will do more damage. She has been on medication for over a year now.

this medication was prescribed to me..... I didnt fill the script ... I will take my chances with the disease...

to me the insanity of taking a medication designed to kill off a bodily organ that is required for every other organ in the body to do its job just doesnt make sense.....oh yeah if they get it right you stop taking the medication at the right time and only a certain portion of your thyroid is killed off and all will be well...... but... if they get it wrong... and this is more often the case... you then have to take thyroxine for the rest of your life....

In Massachessets General Hospital in USA they have been using laser surgery for years to remove the correct amount of thyroid........... in australia we are guinea pigs for pharmaceutical companies......

WHEN a doctor in Australia says I will send you for laser treatment I WILL go for treatment.... but until then I will take my chances with the disease...

I was diagnosed 5 years ago.... my thyroid at that time was 4 times its normal size... and my thyroxine levels were 6 times higher than normal.....

I changed my diet, exercised more.... and other than the odd palpitation now and then.... and it has been about six months since that happened... I am still alive and doing well...

toss a coin heads you take the medication...
tails you dont.....

Oh and the idiocy was increased when the doctor didnt even ask or test me for allergy to iodine..... hmmm!! ...... that to me would be a basic step before taking such medicine...

Sydney Johnston is genuine. There also are some forms of iodine/iodide that are completely secure to take and characteristic been effectively used on your condition jointly with Iodoral and Lugol's answer. I advise that you get a replica of the e book, "Iodine, Why you want It, Why you won't be able to stay with out It" examine it out on Amazon and skim the comments. you'll learn in the e book that over ninety% persons are poor in iodine and also you may learn why. The RDA of 150mcg is a lot way too low. the same old jap get over 13mg an afternoon of their weightloss plan. My spouse takes Iodoral and that i take Lugol's answer.

Grave's disease is a serious illness. Radioactive iodide is a serious treatment. But the risk of the treatment is fairly low, but you must compare that risk to the disease.
