You know the ones I'm talking about. The ones who ask questions like, "did jesus have a pen0r?" and "r all christians retarded lol?" It's funny because they have the nerve to say that all Christians are stupid. No wonder Christians often do not like me when I say that I do not believe in God. They expect me to be like all the other atheists they've seen -- blithering idiots who think they're so funny for drawing pentagrams on things.

Those aren't real atheists... those are trolls. Just like "Christians" who ask questions like "why won't athiestes stop eating babys??"... those aren't Christians. Those are people who come here to push our buttons.

i'm a atheist, i'm not non secular, i'm a skeptic Many atheist's use the term to not purely teach their place on concept in god yet in addition in any variety of supernatural activities. Any form of question of spirituality could fall into this class. some will possibly not notice that particular religions do not contain a deity at a similar time as others will experience that any faith that follows any variety of supernatural tenant won't be able to be classed as atheistic. yet after announcing that i in my opinion do not care what different atheists have faith. i'm not a member of atheism. i'm merely somebody who feels that there is merely approximately relatively no god and if there is that's not needed.

Thanks Chim but rest assured. Foolishness abounds on both sides of the issue. I find some atheists pleasant and intelligent. And some of us theists say some argumenitive nonsense at times. I try to limit myself. Seriously a little humour is ok but nothing is gained by the insulting manner in which we treat each other. And hopefully we are all here trying to learn or build bridges or something positive. Maybe we can go to each others book burning festivals or something sometime. To Andrew W Below me. I have pointed out a few times that extreme atheists (communists) have done alot of crap in a relatively short time. My point isn't that all athiests are communists but rather that extremists can abound in many issues not just religious. It is important to reliaze that so yo can gain a more balanced perspective the next time your pointing out our short comings.

Do you really think anything said here is applicable to the real world? If so has your opinion of religious people that you meet in the real world changed any due to anything stated here on answers? of course not, Not for me anyway. No one acts likes this in real life some kind of alter-ego complex going on I hope anyway. If people were actually like this in the real world you wouldn't even want to leave your home you would probably get rocks chucked at you. It is just a psychological reaction for some You can say anything you want with no real world conflict.

I think that there is a good community here generally, but like all communities, you have a few that are just here to grief others (and i'm sure thats on both sides of every fence). I have seen very respectful disputed answers from atheists, Christians, Muslims, etc., etc Those are the ones that I enjoy reading. the rest I simply ignore.

I don't know if they are real atheists in any meaningful sense - they're probably young children or teens who think its funny to offend people - and in their tiny minds what could be better than to offend the people in the religion room who I imagine in their heads is synonomous with a meeting of elderly priests.

They do give us a bad name - I'm not stupid. Obnoxious though? Hmmm....

Perhaps good discussion can drive out bad, and leave Christians with a better impression of non-believers. Christians cannot talk to me long and maintain the idea that non-believers are stupid or crazy.

The same can be said when words from one individual contain judgmental and create an element that "attacks" another for any reason including what one may believe in or not.

Things would be a lot more productive if all of us would state our individual truths and not state our truths with the intent of "attacking" another.

For me it does not matter what another believes in or not. As long as we respect our own beliefs and not attack another persons' character then it is all good!

I don't think they realize the consequences of their actions, same as Christians who do stupid things. How sad it is when 1 Christian blows up an abortion clinic, he may save a few babies, but thousands of people reject Jesus and are lost to hell for eternity.

Unfortunately, the few atheists who talk like that are the only ones who are heard. Just like there are good Christians out there who have to put up with the furor caused by hateful, ignorant ones.

Yes I know. The ones who think that they are better than fundamental Christians, so they mock them, thereby becoming as bad or worse than the fundamentalists.

Those people give the other Atheists bad names.
