I've gat a Great Dane. I was told by the vet that 8 yrs is about average, but there's no reason why with the proper diet he won't live past that.
My mates Female Dane is just reaching her 12th yr.

Bigger the dog, shorter its life span.
An average life span for a Great Dane is of 9 years, but I had one that lived to be 13 and1/2. I guess it depends upon what kind of life it had, meaning if it was very well taking care of, no genetic problems, kept free of parasites and heartworms, and spayed/neutered early on in life (not over 6 month of age).

The average for a well bred, well cared for, well fed Dane is 10 years..for an irresponsiblely bred Dane it can be as little as 6 years.
