ok heres the real answer from somone who knows what they are talking about. Sounds like 2 things. 1. the red gun in the CRT is shorted giving you an intense red overdrive with retrace lines. This can also be caused by number 2. The red drive transistor on the CRT board is shorted or very leaky. Since your set is that old I wouldn't waste any time having an estimate done for a repair. You got your moneys worth out of that set, time to buy a new one or at least a good used one

Sad, but they don't really fix TVs anymore, they are considered disposable. It sounds like the picture tube is on the way out, time to go look for a new TV. The good news is that the prices of CRT (cathode ray tube) TVs have really come down and quality is way up from 13 years ago. Shouldn't cost more than a few $100 to replace it, unless you go for LCD or plazma.

The CRT is frequently degaussed to get rid of residual magnetic fields which will reason the raster (the seen image) to exhibit coloration aberrations like you describe. dropping the television would have created the kind of field from the marvel because on an inner metallic exhibit screen it truly is definitely magnetized and ought to acquire a magnetic field from the earth's magnetic field. examine to work out if the television has a degaussing characteristic outfitted in and run it- in the different case, a television save can do it for you. yet another danger is that the deflection coils were jarred free yet try the degaussing first.

It's THIRTEEN YEARS OLD. Thats a pretty good indication of why it is shot. You can pick up a newer one for about $50 off of craigslist.

You most likely just need a convergence adjustment. It could be cables that are used, cable box or satellite.
