If this is the first time you're clipping wings, please take it to an avian vet or maybe even a pet store specializing in avian care and products. Someone there may be experienced and they can do it for you and show you how to do it for future reference.

If you happen to do it wrong, it could be very stressful on you and the bird and the bird may bleed. Since birds are so small (save for the macaws, I suppose they're fairly big), losing even a little bit of blood to us is a ton of blood for them.

You should see a vet. If this is not done correctly, you may injure your bird. That said, people who love to have some "nature" in their homes and get themselves birds should always remember the fact that their pets are creatures of the air. Clipping a birds wings turns the poor bird into a disabled bird! By clipping a bird's wings, one takes away its natural means of moving from one place to another.

you want to give him a 'baby trim' the trim is not the same for each wing. your best bet would be to ask a the vet or petstore just to be sure. If you cut all the feathers off, your bird will end up hurting himself if he jumps or falls. You want him to still be able to glide and float so he doesn't fall like a rock.

Go to a bird store and have them teach you the proper way to trim feathers. And make sure you have styptic powder on hand.

Take it to a vet or pet store, the birds wings have blood vessels in them, and can bleed to death if cut wrong. Let professionals do it.

If you are unsure go back to the petstore or go to someone you know that knows what they are doing. The simplest mistake can harm the bird, dont do it on your own ok. Good luck

If you cut to deep it can bleed, dont try it at home unless your sure what your doing, a pet shop might have an expert do it for like five bucks, but if the person is afraid to do it dont push it they might not know how. go to a vet.

But if you do it yourself make sure your bird trusts you because you can't keep it still and try to clip it's wings at the same time! If you think you can do it yourself try, if not take it to a vet.

I know it is very expensive but it is best to have it done at your bird's vet and then while they are growing back it is easy to train. But if you must insist check out this website: http://forums.petlovers.com/articles/about/wing_clipping.html
