Watching "An Inconvenient Truth" is a very helpful movie that would surley answer your question...
The documentary, by Al Gore is based on a speech he has been developing for six years, and is supported by dramatic visuals. He shows the famous photograph "Earthrise," taken from space by the first American astronauts. Then he shows a series of later space photographs, clearly indicating that glaciers and lakes are shrinking, snows are melting, shorelines are retreating.

He provides statistics: The 10 warmest years in history were in the last 14 years. Last year South America experienced its first hurricane. Japan and the Pacific are setting records for typhoons. Hurricane Katrina passed over Florida, doubled back over the Gulf, picked up strength from unusually warm Gulf waters, and went from Category 3 to Category 5. There are changes in the Gulf Stream and the jet stream. Cores of polar ice show that carbon dioxide is much, much higher than ever before in a quarter of a million years. It was once thought that such things went in cycles. Gore stands in front of a graph showing the ups and downs of carbon dioxide over the centuries. Yes, there is a cyclical pattern. Then, in recent years, the graph turns up and keeps going up, higher and higher, off the chart.

The primary man-made cause of global warming is the burning of fossil fuels. We are taking energy stored over hundreds of millions of years in the form of coal, gas and oil, and releasing it suddenly. This causes global warming, and there is a pass-along effect. Since glaciers and snow reflect sunlight but sea water absorbs it, the more the ice melts, the more of the sun's energy is retained by the sea.

DON'T WORRY THIS DOCUMENTARY IS NOT BORING LIKE OTHERS, ITS VERY ENTERTAINING ACTUALLY...Hope I helped!

We can say that Global Warming is a Natural phenomenon but
clearly the activities of man have played a significant role in increasing its effect.

the current natural cycle is being aggravated and accellerated by fossil fuel emmissions...at this point we don't know if nature can overcome what we've done...what we have done is possibly taken the existing warming trend and added to it so that a calamity will occur...it's the carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases blocking the exit of heat, if there were less of these gases, more heat would escape into space...man makes these gases and the amount in the atmosphere is more than any time in the history of the Earth

your chum is stupid. who's responcible or perhaps if that's genuine has been an mission that has already been determined global governments and the scientists. all of them agree that global warming is brought about with information from mankinds aultering of our ecosystem. The media contained in the USA of a is all BS and easily to have a information tale they could by doubt into the minds of human beings basically to promote a information tale. heavily, flow get any type of surroundings textual content e book or flow study the Inconvinent real with information from al gore. those books might want to inform you precisely what global warming is, the way it somewhat works, who's causing it and what's beeing carried out to objective to stop it.

The data derived from multiple sources for climate all concurr that climate change is linked to the industrialistaion of the world, beginning in the 19th century and accelerating after WWII.
The other prime suspect for climate change is solar activity which doesn't coincide with the change recorded. In fact solar activity is predicted to fall in the next decade which is associated with periods of cooling whilst the climate is warming.
This is clearly outside the natural course of events and barring some unknown factor leaves human activity as the priciple cause of climate change.

probably not. but the question should have been is there actually global warming or are we being conned by our governments so that they can raise taxes and force us to change. i agree that we are using up resources and that winter is a little warmer here but hey come on who are we trying to kid. years ago there was a massive hole in the ozone layer and now, well it has miraculously healed itself. yeah right. WHATEVER

Not really, science tells us and the facts that it has been greatly accelerated since the Industrial boon of 1900s. So it is both natural and human accelerated event.

I think it's a natural cycle the Earth goes through, but man is probably accelerating the process this time around.

No we can't because the earths forces and reactions are too complex for scientists to really produce an accurate hypothesis about what is going on
