I'm going to tell you what I tell everyone who asks this question. Most, if not all of your guests, will not want to keep some little "token" of your wedding--I don't want to hurt your feelings with this, but they don't. I've been to many, many weddings over the years, and I'll tell you, the personalized CD's, the small photo frames/shot glasses/bells/votive holders/etc. with the wedding date/names of bride and groom engraved on them, have all wound up in the trash, usually as soon as I get home from the wedding. Now, the favors I do like are the ones that can be consumed, either eaten or used quickly. One wedding we went to, the guests were handed a Krispy Kreme donut as we left, and a few have given candy--you can get M&M's in your wedding colors. One even had a candy bar, with different candies in the wedding colors. You can also do Hershey's bars, and order wrappers with wedding info on them. One wedding also did scented lotions for women, and something else (can't remember what) for the men. I just hate to see brides and grooms throw their money away on something that I'm going to throw in the trash, I feel bad about it (but not bad enough to let that stuff collect in my house!).

For favors you could do disposable cameras. This can give your guests something fun to do, make them feel included, and save you costs on a photographer. As far as other tips go: go with fake flowers for almost everything (I'd still use real for the bridal). They are cheaper, they don't wilt and you can arrange them how you want. Since you have time before your wedding you can keep an eye out for sales on bridal gowns. Wedding cakes are expensive, you could make your own. Or do something unconventional like wedding cookies! If you want a french manicure, go buy a kit instead of going to a salon. Do your own hair. Make your own Thank-You cards. Cut out the things you don't need.

I went to a wedding that gave out an oil and vinegar glass bottle set, which I found to be a great idea. HOWEVER, it was annoying to have to stash it away somewhere during the reception as it was breakable and bigger in size.
Whatever you decide, keep in mind that people will not want to deal with something too fragile. I also don't really like the idea of candy - it may be cheap but it isn't original.
Picture frame place settings aren't great either, I received one and have never put a picture in the frame.
I really like the idea of mini champagne bottles with personalized labels. Allows people to continue on with the party after the reception is finished!!!
Congratulations on your wedding!

You don't really need to have favors, I just wanted to mention that. It's all about your choice though.
Most party favors get thrown out anyways...so make them something that people will enjoy.
My brother-in-law and his wife had their reception outside as well. Their favors were on a separate table and people could help themselves to it. They had a table with their favorite candy in jars. Each of the jars had a scoop and there were clear cellophane bags to put the candy in. It was big hit.
For my wedding(my colors were silver and baby blue), I bought little plastic boxes from a party store, I put silver wrapped hershey kisses or (for you it could be dried cranberries or both!) and tied a white ribbon around it with a bow on the top.
Congratulations!

In some areas of New England they sell chocolate covered dried cranberries. You could use those, to go with the season and your color.
Also consider: candy apples, bookmarks, postcards of the wedding site or city, pens or pencils in your colors...

For my brothers wedding, they made cds as favors, which I thought was nice. They made them on their home computer, so other the cost of the blank cds (which you can buy bulk) and labels, they didn't cost anything to make. THey put their wedding song along with some of their favorites and made a label with their wedding date and names and a little message. My sister in law made cute covers and tied them up with ribbon that matched our bridesmaid dresses.
I still have the cds, it was a good mix of music.

I made bookmarks (literally my mom and I made them ourselves) with a thank you note and clipart. I also had shot glasses with sweets in it and then the whole glass wrapped in printed cellophane paper.

i just got married last june and i had an amazing wedding for cheap. i had trouble with the same thing. i was careful about spending money on things i knew would just get thrown away. so i made kind of a "brochre" for lack of a better term. it told our story from his side and mine. it was fun how they sligtly differed, as we remember things differently. it had pictures from when we first met and parts of letters that he wrote me years ago. they turned out perfect. that is something that people won't throw away. most people know that you love the person you are marrying but how many know the whole story. i made mine at kinkos. they have great paper options and people to help with graphics. the prices were reasonable too. congratulations and good luck!
