I really want to mean it though.

Obviously you are trying to do the right thing here. So, try to put things into a little more perspective, it might help you focus on how *lucky* you are to get a new car instead of how *unlucky*. Think on how many teenagers get cars of their own... that's a pretty small number. Especially a new car.
It's normal to feel a little bit envious, just don't take it any further... don't let it ruin your relationship. Chances are, she is uncomfortable with the difference between the two of you.
Miata is a very expensive car... frankly, I don't understand how the parents you live with allowed it...

Girl, get a grip. Life isn't always how you want it to be and you cant always get what you want either just because someone else does.
I am sure in life there has been things that you have had that she didn't and things good that happened for you that didn't for her. This is life and what happens all the time.Ever heard the saying every dog has its day? Well, this is hers.Get a grip on yourself and stop thinking superficial. She is someone you love and care about so be happy for her.Besides this you never know what life holds for anyone or how long you will have them in your life to love so be grateful for what you do have and those you share it with.
Also there is alot more people worse off then you in life that are struggling to just feed their kids and themselves let alone to worry about what kind of car they drive.Be grateful you have a car and are not going hungry.Put yourself into a reality check and think about the person you are inside and believe me all those feelings of jealousy will be gone.
Good Luck!

Yep, you're jealous but it's not a bad thing unless you do something about it. Are you jealous that Donald Trump has more than he knows what to do with it all?
You have a nice car, it may not be what you were wanting but it give you something to strive for. Something earned is so much better than something received in a gift. Some people get too used to getting things and seldom look to earning their own keep.
Don't sweat it, you're probably better off cause I've heard some not so nice things about those cars she has.

that is a bummer. do not bury your jealousy. but dont be hateful or hurtful about it either. tell her your jealous but let it go at that. and when you tell her dont be mean. its not her fault that she got a car that is better or that her dad has more money. you gals are both lucky to have gotten cars at all. lots of kids dont get anything near that. appreciate everything you have including your mom and step sister as well as your sunfire. if you need, talk to your mom, but dont act like a big whiny baby who wants what cant be afforded. moms are there to help thats all.

gotta love how bratty kids are turning out these days. When I was 16 I SHARED a car with my MOTHER!
Get a job and pay for your own darn convertable!
I hate how kids these days act like everything is owed to them.
Learn the value of hard work.

be honest. tell her you're jealous but make it known that you know its out of your and her control. Your parents did the best they could and one ended up doing better than the other. That's obvious and she knows that. She's probably really excited about the car but scared because she knows you have to be feeling something about it. So fess up. Admit to being jealous of her car. She's probably been jealous of you for having a car for longer than her anyways.

Wow, that has to be frustrating. Keep telling her your happy for her, and soon you might believe it. Eventually, you will get a better car. This is going to be hard for you, and I'm sorry that you have to go through this. It's not fair - but then, little in life is.

DON'T LETS THIS RUIN YOU !!!!!!! it is a piece of machinery yes its nicer but yours is more safer . convertables cost more money when the top starts leaking and stuff ....... this object can be gone in a matter of seconds but your relationship with your sister will last a life time ... you will both grow up one day and have many more cars leave it be and DON'T let it ruin your relationship with her...... IT'S ONLY A PEICE OF MACHIERY THAT CAN BE REPLACED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
YOU KNOW ITS A PROVEN FACT ONE DAY YOU WILL HAVE SOMETHING BETTER THAN HER , WHETHER ITS YOUR HUSBAND..HOUSE..ECT... AND YOU WILL WANT HER TO BE HAPPY FOR YOU AND BE THERE TO ENJOY IT WITH YOU
GOOD LUCK
AND GOD BLESS

Dude Im 17 Im driving a 93 suburban that needs alot of work and I have to lease it from my mother. Stop being bratty and be happy that you can get something like that for your birthday and so can your sister. Most kids would kill to be in your shoes. Quit whining.
