Only day care jobs or are there other options?

I don't currently have the degree and don't plan on getting a BA. Say what you will about not having a degree but I have weighed all the options and I feel that I know what is best for me.

to iii_scanjet_iii you may refer to it as a cake degree but that makes you, in my eyes, less of a person. And I'll leave it at that...I could say worse...

to Big Rob..I have worked with special needs children in the past while being a student Aid in a 3rd grade classroom. I have 3 years of teaching swim lessons to children under my belt, along with time spent working in a elementary school latchkey, a year student aid for a 3rd grade class room, and working in a Juvinelle Delquient Home. That doesn count my many years as a babysitter. All of these jobs have "trained" me to work with children from 3 months to 17 years. I have worked with very privleged children, very poor children, and children with special needs. Just to have a little background ;-)

Having a degree is a fantastic thing. Most of the time there will only be entry-level positions available. If you do take a daycare job, do it to the best of your abilities. Make sure that it is a reputable daycare that has room for advancement. You could move up the ladder there. I think that there will be a variety of different things that you could do once you get 1-3 years of experience under your belt though. Have you ever thought about owning your own daycare? Are you willing to work with children that have special needs? Good luck to you!

You are mainly isolated to child care and/or preschool facilities. Careers my college lists under Early Childhood Education Associate is Child Care Center Manager, Child Care Worker, Infant and Toddler care and a Child Care Consultant.

Many A.A. degrees in Early Childhood Education are meant for transfer only and truly mean nothing as a stand alone. I am currently in school for my Elementary Education degree. While I will get a transfer A.A. degree I can do very little with it, it is meant as a junior college start to a B.A.

You will probably be limited. But there are also like child group homes or programs like that. Or, schools usually accept Associates degrees for substitute teachers.
