Because it turns people you like and even care for into complete morons. As an ex-bartender, let me assure you your IQ drops ten points for every drink and some of us can't afford to lose any points.....

Because most folks lack critical thinking skills. They often stereotype everyone that drinks as: drunk driver, drunk idiot, loser and having family/work problems. They use the actions of a few individuals to classify an entire class of people.
It is a lack of effort on their part to understand why people drink.
Personally, I love the taste of beer. I drink a few every night (when I am at home, with nowhere to drive).
I am in great shape, yet I am the bad person? Half of the women at work are at least 50 pounds overweight, consume nothing but soft drinks and snack foods all day long...yet me having a few beers makes me the menace to society.

There are a lot of people who do not like the taste of Alcohol and there are also many who don't like how the feel when they wake up The next morning. Then there's what happens if you drink to much. throwing up, a black out here and there. there is always the fear of alcohol poisoning.

people hate it because it can completely mess up a person somtimes. they can become mean, silly, hurtful, so many thins that they aren't. i guess some people hate it because they don't like seeing someone they love drunk. i am not saying its a horrible thing to do, some people dont get drunk (or some people do, but they are sensible about it) it's just that i dont think people should drink.

It also relates to religious issues. I was brought up in a ridiculously strict church that thought even walking into the liquor department at the grocery store was an abomination. They took the whole "soberness" thing a little too far.

Because while it maybe fun to you, it affects (mostly in negative way) other people who aren't drinking.

I don't know people who hate drinking.
I know only people who hate other peoples who drink too much, who drive after drinking, who loose control when they drink and so on.
