I am a local firefighter and would like to learn to play the bagpipes for special events. I don't want to be a master bagpiper just want to know the basic songs amazing grace, scotland the brave, and other ceremonial songs. I live in Durham NC but am willing to travel

I would decline to take you on as a student. You just want to be able to do a few tunes for ceremonies? That's what gives piping a bad name. Either learn to play well, or not at all. The guy who played for Ford's funeral was supposed to know what he was doing, and look what he ended up doing.

Bruce Wright has been around for a while and should be a decent instructor. (He's also active on the Web bagpiping forums.)

Oh Door the guy in the back of the position I stay performs them yet i ought to admit they don't annoy me. I used to have a mad drummer down the line he grow to be more suitable demanding. nicely he did not annoy me notwithstanding the neighbours used to call the police yet he wasn't stupid he would quit even as he talked about the police vehicle grow to be the line.
