I just got my first tattoo yesterday for my 18th birthday, it has lillies on it going up my side then one goes onto my stomach a little bit below my bra strap and then to go on my back and i have a few buds that go up onto my shoulder, i just got the outline and it stands out a lot and i love it. It's pretty sore today which i know is normal I was just wondering when the soreness will start to go away? What do you have for a tattoo? How long was yours sore for? How much did yours cost? How long did it take you to finish the design?thank you very much in advance

sounds really pretty! i think that the outline should only be sore for about 2-3 days. it depends on you.... some people bruise and it hurts for a while, some it only hurts a little bit.
but unlike getting color done, the outline heals relatively quickly, and the soreness will go away soon too.
i was just tattooed jan 2.... for the i don't know how many-eth time! but it was outline for a peacock on my back/rib area. i also have large flowers all over the lower half of my back. the flowers hurt a lot because there were so many colors used in each one, and to go back and put more color in where you are already torn up was rough. my entire back piece should take anywhere from 10-12 sittings. i think that it will cost be about 2000 because i get a hell of a deal from an amazing artist, and the time put into it will be an average of 6 hrs per session so anywhere from 60-72 hrs.

Outline is the worst part, so it's nice that you get to get that over with first. In general the smaller a needle is the more it hurts, so I would just tell your artist that you would like the outlines to be thicker. Both of those tattoos you linked will hurt about the same. After a while it feels like someone drawing a razor blade through your skin, or like a cat scratch.

i got 2 1/2 hours of tattoo work done on my back piece on saturday. it's monday and is still sore. i think everybody is different but i'm thinking by wednesday it will not be as sore. so far i have spent 11 1/2 hours getting my tattoo on my back done. i'm more than half way there so yay for that. hopefully i'll get it finished this year and... well it hasn't been cheap.

I have a large piece on my ribs, and it was sore for a couple of days after each session.

Just be careful about sleeping on that side, and don't stretch too much while it's healing.

I'm not sure how much mine cost altogether, but I'm friends with my tattoo artist, so he gives me a break anyhow.

I think it took me about 4 months to complete. :)

It shouldnt really be sore after a day of two but it will itch but dont scratch it or you can scratch off the scabs which could cause the ink to come off as well.
