Watermelon is 92% water so I don't see why it would be bad...I don't think I'd let him have the kind with seeds though. That is funny that your dog likes that. My dog can be considered a garbage disposal if she were allowed to shed eat everything, but she doesn't like watermelon, its OK though more for me.

Grapes and dogs
Although the minimum lethal dosage is not known, grapes and raisins can be toxic to dogs when ingested in large quantities. The symptoms are gastrointestinal signs including vomiting and diarrhea, and then signs of kidney failure with an onset of severe kidney signs starting about 24 hours after ingestion. The amount of grapes eaten varied between 9 oz. and 2 lbs., which worked out to be between 0.41 and 1.1 oz/kg of body weight. It has been reported that two dogs died directly from the toxicity, three were euthanized due to poor response to treatment and five dogs lived.

Due to the severity of the signs and the potential for death, the veterinarians at the National Animal Poison Control Center (NAPCC) advocate aggressive treatment for any dog believed to have ingested excessive amounts of grapes or raisins, including inducing vomiting, stomach pumping and administration of activated charcoal, followed by intravenous fluid therapy for at least 48 hours or as indicated based on the results of blood tests for kidney damage.

I didn't know it either for a while, so when I found out, I did a lot of searching on the internet and asked a similar question to find all the poisons. Watermelon wasn't on any poison list for dogs. I'm sure it won't do much harm, but I would feed it in small amounts, just in case.

I've never heard or read about watermelon being bad for dogs. In fact, I have a friend who's dog absolutely loves it. Watermelon may not hurt your dog, but could be unpleasant for his/her belly. I would still suggest keeping him/her on a consistant diet.

Yeh, I know. Mom plays it all the time. Tom T. Hall and I love it, too. The choice sounds simple enough but if you are diabetic, no watermelon wine. If you get old and have hearing problems, it is better to watch children from a distance. Lord they are loud. Old dogs would be what is left. They put up with you when you are old and grey. No more, younger women, faster horses or more money when you get up there. Mom, says.
