Because it has been going on so long and you have tried so many things, I think you should see a dermatologist or at least your regular doctor. Maybe there is some nutritional deficiency or allergy that needs to be addressed. I have also heard that using chapstick around the clock can allow fungus and/or bacteria to grow and can cause infections on your lips. You should talk to your doctor about the possibility of a fungal infection. You are right to be frustrated and concerned. I have chapped lips fairly often, but not all the time. Mine happens when I haven't had enough water and/or I have been licking my lips a lot, which is a bad habit of mine. Good luck.

It sounds like to me you may be dehydrated or have another health problem other than you lips, which are a result. Have you been to the doctor about this? It sounds silly but it isnt if you have suffered with it for two years. The other thing is that you need to think back to before this happened and what has changed since. Have you moved from different climates? Have you gone through the change or other health situations? Are you on any new medications ? Try going to beautyfeast.com and look up severe chapped lips. They talk of allergies to dyes in lipsticks, and all sorts of things i never thought of. Keep looking for an answer and dont stop until you get the help you need. You deserve it!

Many lip balms contain lanolin, parafin, menthol and certain kinds of acids, and petroleum, and you may allergic to one or all of these thinigs. The only thing that will help is hydration (which you have been doing) and sticking to balms that are 100% hydrocortisone.

You also may be a "lip licker", which is probable if you have constantly chapped lips. Your saliva has enzymes in it that are used to start breaking down your food even before it gets to your stomach...so you're technically breaking down the skin of your lips, which is very fragile to begin with.

Your house may be too dry. Check into a room humidifier.

Do you take any medications chronically? Certain acne medications and antihistamines dry out your mucous membranes.

If you smoke, the contact with the cigarette on your lips evaporates liquid off the lips.

If none of this sounds like you...see a dermatologist.

You say you have tried many things and nothing works. Give this a try.
Take a toothbrush put some Vaseline on it and brush your lips with this. Do this a few times a day. It should aleviate your problem. Apply a lip balm in between. And for heaven sakes don't lick your lips.It gets to be habit you don't realize you are doing, try to be more concious I am going to presume this is the main problem.
Otherwise I think you should consult a doctor about your problem.

I started using chapstick in high school and over 10 years later I still have to use it everyday. I swear I think once you start using it you never stop. My husband is the same way. The only chapstick that I have found that works well is by Avon. It's very mild, none of that medicated stuff. I think the medicated stuff just makes them worse. If your situation is like mine, get used to it and buy a ton of chapstick.

I've found that Burt's Bees Beeswax Lip Balm works marvelously. The original may sting a bit at first from the peppermint oil but the honey is my personal favorite.

As a wind musician, I can't use anything with petroleum because it blocks oxygen. That's why I started using Burt's Bees and I haven't found anything better yet.

i would have to say ice. but also using so much chapstick makes it worse. if i were you i would take either and ice cube and hold it on there for several minutes or take a very warm rag and put it on ur lips after that leave them alone repeat this every hour or so. hopefully, it clears up after a few days of doing this method.
i hope it goes well
