this sounds very much as the pain i get in my chest. i dont want to get you worried but even i though it was indigestion at first but no medicenes worked, after a few months i had to go to the a and e with very bad pain, there i got diognised with gulstones, so maybe you need to get yourself at your gp, he should do u a blood test to see if anything comes out to be abnormal and he'll take it from there, and might send you for a scan. i hope its not what im thinking, all the best, hope your better soon.

My other half had this problem fairly recently. He ended up leaving it over the weekend and was up all Sat night in agony. Had to go to the emergency clinic on the sunday morning and doctor prescribed Omeprazole tablets, he said that it was probably a gut infection. A few days later he was fine. However, his Dad suffers really badly with indigestion so think this might be the shape of things to come. For now, try taking a heaped teaspoon of Bicarbonate of soda with some water. Sounds vile but husbands family swear by it, they say it's much better than indigestion tablets and people have been doing this for years so it's worth a try. See your GP though as soon as you can if it doesn't work!

Doesn't sound like indigestion - you don't normally have that for 3 days. Same goes for heartburn, unless it goes and comes back.

Could be any number of things from chest infection, pulled intercostal muscles, bruised ribs (maybe even fractured ribs) to something potentially more serious.

Best thing to do is book an appointment to see your doctor ASAP. However, if you cannot get an appointment or the pain becomes worse, then you should go to your nearest hospital (by calling an ambulance if necessary) to get yourself properly checked out.

Procedures wise, they'd probably do an ECG (EKG in the US), get blood tests, listen to your chest for signs of infection, maybe get a chest x-ray, maybe a cardiac echogram - there's all sorts of tests they can run if needed.

Hope you get it sorted.

If I were you I'd have it checked out with your GP just to be safe. Sounds like indigestion but better be safe than sorry.
