When I touch under my naval to the left side, a little above the bone there is a sharp pain. I have had trouble with bowel movements and have had sudden sharp pain in the abdominal area. Did I just eat something wrong? The skin above the area feels tense but I dont think its swollen. Thank you

More details: I have been constipated for a few days and have had some pain that I associated with my stomach just being gassy. I use the restroom frequently but not much comes out, after much effort. However, today my stomach felt "tense" in an area so I began to touch it and it hurt badly. It does not hurt when I release it, but it does hurt if I cough or stand up. Thank you for your answers thus far.

Could be a kidney stone or a gall bladder stone.

It could be a number of different things. The skin could be sore from you poking around on it. The sharp pain, the problems with your bowel movements etc should be checked out by a physician. If you don't have insurance, go to a free clinic to get checked. Do you have a fever? Is your stool a different color or consistency? Are you nauseated? Appendicitis can hurt on the opposite side...don't let the location of the pain fool you into believing it is not your appendix. Let someone push down on either side of your lower abdominal area...if it hurts as they let go it might be appendicitis. Get checked out!

Appendix can rarely hurt on the left side too!

Take a lot of fibre and drink lots of water. If it's a bowel problem that should solve it.

Bannanas are the best, but any food / vegetables are good enough fibres.

If the pain still persists make a real consultation don't look for online tips.

It could be a wide range of issues. How long have you had it. If it continues, you should seek medical attention. It could be something related to Irritable Bowel issues, and or something more.
