Hi Rodney...generally, when a cat exhibits bad breath it could be a result of either periodontal, kidney, respiratory or liver disease to diabetes, skin disease (involving tissue around the lips) or oral trauma, such as electric cord injury. However, by far, the most common problem associated with bad breath is periodontal disease. All which will require a veterinarian's evaluation to treat respectively.

your cats breath will always smell like cat food because that is all they eat.you can buy breath tabs for cats and dogs at any pet store and believe me they make a big difference.try feeding your cat some fruits and veggies and the breath will start to smell different.just be carefull and not give to much at a time.

Well i can guess of one reason.....it maybe eats cat food. If you want it's breath to smell better then maybe dice up a mint with it's food and then your cat's breath will be fresh.

Actually that is a really good question. If you are asking it seriously. The reason that your's cat's breath smells like that is because the food you are feeding is an inferior brand. If you fed holistic natural good quality food then it would "smell" much less. If you fed raw or B.A.R.F diet then it wouldn't smell at all. Food for thought??
And...you can supplement your cats food with treats that freshen your cats breath like Feline Greenies or use Suzie's Tartar liquid to help with tartar and freshens breath.

How do you know whether it is cat food that you are smelling or something else? Did you go sniff on cat food or even tried it?
