The CSS/Profile for one of the schools i am applying to is today and the thing is, my parents still dont have their taxes for 2006 done or their W2s, so its such a waste to estimate things, since they dont know what to put until they get this information.
I tried calling the financial aid office of the school but they are closed for the holiday. i dont get why they set their deadlines on a holiday where no one can reach them with questions.
ive researched this school several times, and each time i come with different information regarding their financial aid. once, it said today is the priority deadline (what does it mean, priority?), and then i saw somewhere else that it was the closeout date.and then somewhere else i saw that its just the priority date but no closeout date.their website just says anyone applying for financial aid should get information in by today.
what do i do?
its not like ive been sitting around the whole time, ive been trying to fill it out, but its too much

but like i dont know what to estimate, because if its totally wrong, i still have to submit the taxes and w2s later when they are filed...whcih will totally screw up my package u know.
its just SO much info that would be easier to do once instead of going back and doing it again.

If the school is closed today, the deadline is tomorrow. Apparently, the school is only trying to hurry you into finishing your paperwork so they can give you admission.

I don't think they're going to buy that excuse. After all, you had all Fall to get this stuff done. The CSS profile is supposed to be an estimate only. Your parents dont have their 2006 taxes, but they have their 2005 taxes and they could use those. At this point you should be getting them started on the FAFSA, which does have to be done with 2006 information.

If the school you are worried about is an elite school, then you have a problem, but if it is a second tier school, then you probably are ok. But you do need to get everything else except the CSS in today.

The deadlines for the apps are set years in advance, and generally are the same every year. So if they said Jan 15 and it turns out to be a holiday they will just take the things the next day.

There are two sides to this: first, they are on your side. They want you to apply and if you are a good candidate, they want you to come there. But on the other hand, there are thousands of students who start to apply and never finish, so they need some way to weed out those kids. Think positive, but do what you are supposed to do.

Do u have a copy of ur parents last check stub.. add them together and that's ur figure.. I estimate every year to beat the deadline.. It is VERY simple to go back in and correct and much better than missing the deadline totally. Most schools do not have Deadlines but they do run out of financial aid by a certain date.. I would call the school tomorrow and ask them.. Since u can't start to fill out the papers for next year until After Jan 1.. I find it really hard to believe that they have already hit the deadline...Gl

just try doing anything you can, and tomorow call the school and ask them, the priority thing is for the ones who want an answer as soon as possible, the closeout date should be the last day things can be sent in.
