Usually between 6 and 11 months, but some do come in heat as early as 5 1/2 months. Just as with human girls, there is no set time to reach puberty.

It depends on the breed - smaller breeds go into heat around 6 months, while large or giant breeds generally don't have their first heat until 9 months to a year.

It can be as early as 6 months... But more commonly around a year old. Occasionally a dog may not have it's first heat until 2 years old.
Have your dog spayed at 6-8 months old before she has her first heat. She will be much healthier and happier.

It depends on the size of the dog. If you have a larger breed, usually around 9 months, and her cycle will likely last 2-4 weeks. If you don't plan on breeding her, i would highly suggest having her fixed. It will be much easier on you, and the dog.
Make sure you are prepared with the doggy diapers. PetSmart & Petco have machine washable ones, and you can put doggy panty liners in them. I found those to be easier than using disposable ones, as she will probably try to chew it off, and she can tear those.

A female puppy comes into heat on average around 6 months, sometimes as early as 4 months, sometimes as late as 9 months. With MILLIONS of cats and dogs being euthanized every year in the US alone, please spy and neuter all your pets. Prior to the first heat cycle is the healthiest for everyone.
