Plyometrics.
Do jumping squats:
*Three sets of ten to start with.
*Work your way up to five sets of twenty.
*Squat down to about 90 degrees, forcefully jump up, land by squatting back down to the 90 degree position.
PROPER FORM counts!
Also, some quickly executed high-knee stride running (almost like running in place).
*Quickly execute each step with an emphasis on high knee strides.
*Exaggerate the arm motion as you do this (i.e., elbow swing).
*Do this for three sets of 20 seconds each, and work your way up to five sets.
Remember to stretch and warm up/warm down.
Stay warm.
Hydrate (H20 is best).
Good luck, I hope this helps.

Basic Sprints
mark out 2 lines 20-30 ft apart. Sprint from one mark to the next and slowly jog back to the start.
Rolling Start
Exactly the same as above except you jog for 10ft before sprinting. This drill is specifically designed to enhance acceleration rather than speed off the mark.
Alternating Starts
The basis of these speed training drills is a 10-20 meter/yard sprint. You should focus on accelerating as quickly as possible by powering away with your arms and legs. If your sport involves reacting quickly from different starting positions (as most sports do) try to vary the starting position. Examples include doing a press up then sprinting, sitting on your hands, lying face down, doing 5 squat jumps before sprinting etc.

If the kids are old enough get them on the bikes and have them race you while running. Or on their skates, scooters, skateboards, etc.
If they are really young the do the shuttle run in the back yard or front, whatever is bigger. Run from one spot to another and back then to a further spot and back, then an even further spot and back. Do a few reps of this and you should be able to work up some fitness. Do it everyday.
Good luck

If theres a fence run from ine fence to the other. You could also do a shutle run. Like, but a small bix-like oblect at one end of the yard, start at the other and go grab it, come back. You know what I'm saying, right?

If you're a sprinter, core work and weight exercises will help you just as much as running- get creative with how you do the weight exercises..
