When did we first hear about MRSA, can anyone help?

Wow! I didn't know MRSA was known outside the medical community!

Anyway MRSA (Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus) appeared first within one year of the introduction of the drug itself. I think it was in UK in the 1960s itself. Though it was only in the mid 1980s... MRSA assumed alarming proportions forcing discontinuation of the drug in many places

In 1961 in the United Kingdom.

It is usually only found in hospital settings.
