we have an almost 11 month old, and we have an entertainment center with glass doors on the bottom that are operated by pushing on the top to "unstick" the magnets. one click to open, another to close. our son has figured out how to open it and get to the stuff inside. anyone have any suggestions on how we can keep him from opening it? right now we have a box in front of it, cuz we are moving and starting to pack, but when we are moved we don't want to keep a cardboard box in the middle of the living room! looks a little tacky, ya know? so any ideas are appreciated!!

If there is any space at the top of the doors, they make safety locks for bi-fold doors that would work. You put it over the top of the two doors and you have to loosen and push to one side or the other to open. It would probably even work if you just don't quite close the doors all the way. Not great... but better than a box!

Also, this might be a great "practice No." We kept a few things un-safetied (only ones that we knew our son couldn't hurt himself or the contents with) and made them "no touches." It was very helpful to help him learn that even though he COULD get into things, it didn't mean he SHOULD. It's helped us a lot when we've visited friends and relatives that don't have kid-proofed places. He understands "no touch" and I don't have to stress as much that he'll hurt himself or break someone else's things.

Good luck!

Either take the doors off or put it away until he is older. We have so many wonderful pieces of furniture, vases, etc.. in our basement I can't begin to tell you. The only safe thing is to remove them altogether. You will never forgive yourself if you tape them or leave them and they break and she cuts herself up. Better safe than sorry. (PS, my youngest is now 5 and I have having a ball bringing up my glass tables and candy dishes! It's like having a whole new house!)

we had something similar-we just made life easier by taking the doors off the entertainment center and taking everything out of that shelf inside.

We used masking tape. It does not look good but it works.

wat i think is that you should not keep the box in the middle of your livingroom if you were moving to a different house you should take the box with you so you will not forget it at all
