I took classes on psychometry and other subjects from a spiritualist. He took the class on past life regressions. I found my past lives. I had had seven different lives, all as men, most as different races than I am now. This is the first life as a woman and I am learning so much and having many life experiences I could not have as a man.
He also took us through spirit guide meditations. I found two spirit guides. One looks like an Ent from LOTR. This was way before the movies were made or I had read any Tolkein, so I believe this spirit guide is real. I also had my grandparents and a nun (of all things - I'm not even Christian) for spirit guides.
I have studied Shamanism but haven't yet gone through soul retrieval or journeying. I hope to some day.
I am now 54 years old, Eclectic Pagan (used to be a Pentacostal lay-minister), and learn everything I can.

That's FAR too much information to type in here. Perhaps if you put out some kind of survey online or directly contact people, you might have better results. If you're that interested, perhaps reading already published accounts by various Native American shamans, etc. might help you.

That's a LOT of info to be asking of us in here, also, be aware that not all shamans are willing to share the experiences we go through. It can be rather personal.
