The ideal places would be a short walking distance to a BTS Skytrain Station or MRT subway station. Assuming you are not going to drive and not crazy enough to take a taxi all the time. I would suggest looking along Ratchadapisek Road north of Rama IX. I suggest this area since it does run along the MRT subway, there is a Tesco/Lotus market at the Phra Ram IX station in the Fortune mall. If you need to get to Sukhumvit Road, it is only a 12 to 15 minute ride on the subway which costs like 24 baht from the furthest station up near Chatuchak weekend market. I would hope you have a map of Bangkok handy so that you can lay out where everything is relative to where you need to be.

Unfortunately, the websites for most Bangkok Real Estate agents are not that up to date and the info may not be up to date. You will find many duplicate listings also. I found this out by helping my girlfriend who lives in Bangkok try to find an apartment in the Ratchadapisek area. Many of those listed below should have english speaking personnel. Find one you can confidently talk with and discuss your personal situation and list what you want and see if they can accomodate you. And you may have to go through many of them to find one you will take. Unfortunately also is that Thailand nor Bangkok has a MLS or Multiple Listing Service that is common in the United States.

I found that Bang Na is way to popular with Foreigners thereby driving up the price of the apartments. Too close to the end of the subway or skytrain is also very high. Finding something in between is the key, I think.

The above website is for Thanatawee Place they have one bedroom studios for around 6500-8100 baht per month with a 12 month lease. It is right behind Fortune Mall, seems like about a 10 minute walk to the subway station.

Good luck.

well, depending upon what you define as good location.. if it means in one of the central areas of bkk where there are lots of foreigners or near a skytrain stop, then I think you won't find much, but it is possible to get something small and not too nice in that price range, but not likely - the further you expand your area, the cheaper it will be.. I have a friend in Bang na who has a decent but small 2 bdrm in a high rise building w/big pool for 6000.. good luck

Where I live Thonburi Thung Kru, i have small two bedroom apartment, with hot water, ac, fully furnish, with security and kitchen area to cook for 6,500, but it's a good hour or more bus ride from the center of bangkok in. The community I live in is very big and I know they have alot of empty apartments, near a university. They love to rent to foreigners. If interested email me.

for that price, you can get a decent apartment at central bangkok, like Phaya Thai or Sukhumvit, Patuwan, or even Din Daeng (neighbourhood).

You will find them easily but don't expect much. Just get an acency to do the work for you. The landlord pays the agency not you - you have nothing to lose.
