i'm not sure how you treat your hair, but you deafinately need to not use a blowdryer or straightener on your hair untill it has fully recovered...
you also need to, when washing your hair, condition it twice, and then when you get out of the shower, use another type of conditioner, like the Vo5 spray in one, or, the one that i prefer over most, the pantene proVtreatment smoothing comb-in treatment...
it would also be a very good idea to get it trimmed to that the dead part of your hair is removed, and it allows new growth to come...

Sometimes it can help to adjust your nutrition. Here's a section from http://1stholistic.com/reading/health-hair-nutrition.htm

Eating foods rich in Vitamin B5 (Pantothenic Acid), Vitamin B8 (Biotin), Folic Acid, Para Amino Benzoic Acid, Silica, Calcium, Zinc, and iron, to name a few, helps prevent or reduce hair loss, helps replace dull hair with shiny hair, and helps maintain overall healthy hair.

Leafy, green vegetables are good sources of mineral sources. Silica can be obtained from raw oats. Iron is found in dried fruits and meats. The B Vitamins can be found in foods such as cow’s liver and wheat germ. Iron is found in raisins, eggs, liver, and whole grain cereals. Silica is found on the skins of potatoes and cucumbers, and in bean sprouts.

Have you been doing anything to it? putting chemicals in it or using a blow dryer or a flat iron? Do you go outside while it's cold with wet hair?
All these things can make your hair snap off. Here is a great web site with lots of forums. they know everything about growing healthy hair. And it's free to join if you like. www.longhaircommunity.com

stop using any kind of chemicals i/e relaxers and colorants and let you hair rest by getting braids for a few months either singles and cornrows - when ever you wash you hair make sure you use a deep conditioning treatment and avoid heat when you can.
