Absolutley. In its simplest form, alcohol is sugar. The sugar is a carb, and efectively turns to fat. Not only does it add fat, it also causes bloating due to water retention. So, it can add water weight also. A hangover is basically severe dehydration, so when you drink your body holds onto as much water as it can.

Alcoholic beverages are no different than others. They have calories, sugar, salt...everything in it.

If you drink a lot and do nothing but sit on your butt all day...yeah you're gonna gain weight.
The same applies to drinking and eating other things...
Basically, it's not the alcohol to blame...it's you.
You don't want to gain weight? Do something about it...don't pass the blame.

(Calories in) - (Calories used) = Weight Gain or Loss

If you are on a normal diet, and don't gain or lose weight, the addition of the calories found in alcohol will cause weight gain.
If you decide to keep on drinking, you have 2 options. Either eat less, or exercise more, to maintain your desired weight.

Lots of sugar in these beverages and so that would explain your weight gain.

alcohol makes you gain weight. i think it's a combination of your belly getting fatter from all the yeasts and calories, but also your liver enlarging. sooo....if you wanna stay thinner....lay off the booze.
