I don't think anyone has tried to apprehend God. It would be very interesting because first the Government would have to recognize his existence, his divine nature, and his eternal power. Then they would have to remove all evolution stuff from school text books and put in Creation, reinstate school prays, change the National Anthem to include reference to God, change the school syllabus back to the "three R's" - Reading, wRitting, and Religion; Universities would suddenly be saying DNA proves creation and not evolution and that they knew all along we weren't evolved from Monkeys, then the Government would stop nearly all abortions, and all the civil libertarians and Pro Choice people would say they knew abortion was a wrong and they had opposed it for years.

Christianity believes that God is chasing after us.
He (or She) first sent us the Law and the Prophets.
Then He even sent himself in the form of an infant who would grow up and eventually be put to death.
