Are his eyelids inflamed? Are his eyes or nose watering? If he has mucous, what color is it?

Wheezing could be from any number of things. If he shows other signs of illness, I would guess it is an upper respiratory illness and if the mucous is greenish/yellowish in color, then it is bacterial in nature and needs antiobiotics.

If there are no other signs of illness, it could be a hairball, it could be worms, it could be an allergy or asthma, or it could even potentially be a heart problem. Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy occurs somewhat commonly in cats, particularly in certain breeds, and can result in such wheezing.

It goes without saying that kitty needs a vet.

Wheezing could be very serious. I would take him to the vet immediately! My Leo was wheezing and weak and I rushed him to an emergency vet and he had pneumonia in both lungs. His right lung had completely shut down and the left one was going. The vet said if I hadn't brought him in on that Saturday he would have died before Monday.

How come you haven't been to the vet? Your cat could have asthma, an upper respiratory infection, pneumonia, heartworms... Don't wait. Let your vet take a listen and possibly an x-ray of your kitty's lungs. The sooner you get treatment, the easier and less expensive it will be and the less likely your cat will suffer.

Take him to the vet. He may have an upper respiratory infection, which can be very serious. He may also simply have a hairball which can cause the hacking/wheezing.

You need to take him to the vet - don't wait any longer as it doesn't sound like it's getting better. You wouldn't want to suffer that long ifyou were wheezing would you?

Take him to a vet immediately. Cat's have 4 times the lung capacity they could ever need, if he is having any kind of respiritory problems he is in deep deep trouble.

Take him to the vet! Sounds like it might be an upper respiritory problem, which can be very serious for cats.
