Does it really work? How long is it normally between times of having to do it again? I'm considering buying one but wanted some firsthand experience first. Thanks!

I own a furminator and use it on my black lab (who sheds all year round) and my chow/golden mix. It's fantastic. I use it after their monthly baths.

You just have to have reasonable expectations. I recommend in the summer shedding season to have it done every 4-6 weeks depending on the dog...the more times you do it, the better results you are going to see.

Like anything else, some people loved it and some people swore it didn't work. It does depend on the dog...but it doesn't hurt to try.

Through my experience it worked best on labs, huskies and german shepards. It definitely works on all breeds with an undercoat, but it made a HUGE difference for those breeds/ or mixed breeds with those type of coats.

My dogs now tolerate it, but it took a while. It can be a long process so if your doggie is impatient do it a little bit at a time and gradually work up to the full treatment..

It sure worked on my huge. hairy pup! I had him 'furminated' at the groomers, paid an extra ten bucks, and he didn't shed from Feb to July! It made his grooming so much easier..My pups were going through the 'change' from puppy to adult coats, and the one I didn't have done, would provide me with enough hair to stuff a pillow each brushing!
Note: they are cheapest on eBay

Yep I have one and I use it not only on my short haired dogs.
But the cat also.
It works great and it really strips out the dead hair coat.
I use it on the cat several times per week and the dogs maybe once per month.
I have weimaraners and dobermans.
