Ok..this is kinda funny..but I have always wondered...and just never asked. Ya know in high school and stuff when you wanted to be with a girl..you "asked her out" to be your girlfriend...so it would be "official"...well when your older...how do you know its official...the guys dont still "ask you out" to be their girlfriend do they? lol I know that sounds silly..but I was always wondering. Actually, when your older you just get confirmation. My boyfriend and I knew things were strictly exclusive but we didn't know how serious we should be with each other. So, one day I just told him I needed confirmation on our relationship. He was so happy to hear those words and I was so happy for his reaction. I hope this helped....

Ya, I have pondered this question myself.
It begins with a date or two, turns into seeing each other, then you are dating and then bf/gf. At least in my opinion this is how it goes. I think the couple just decide when they are comfortable with these terms.
To be honest, sometimes I miss the simplicity of high school.

If you are unsure, then just ask. You don't have to be elementary and send a note asking "Do you like me, yes or no?" or anything, but sit down with that person and talk about it. Let them know that you aren't trying to rush anything, but you just want to be clear on the status of your relationship. Nothing is worse than thinking more (or less) of a situation than what it really is.

if the guy didnt ask me to be his girlfriend then i dont count it as official. well thats what i think
