My oil pressure light flickers on and off while the engine is running and I am at a stop. Recently the light is becoming solid instead of flickering, however it goes out completely once I move the vehicle. What does this sound like to you? My car has 82,000 miles on it.

Oil & filter were changed 1-7-07 and problem still occurs. My husband suspects it's the oil pump going.

Check your oil. If it is low, add some and pray you haven't ruined your engine.
If you have oil, take your car to a mechanic IMMEDIATELY!!!!!!!!!!!
Your oil pump is not working properly, and needs to be cleaned or replaced. If I had it out to clean it, I would just go ahead and replace it anyway.
GET IT FIXED NOW!!!! If you don't, you will ruin your engine.

How long ago did you have an oil change? If you put a lot of mileage onyour car, it is recommended that you change the oil and oil filter every 20,000 miles or 25,000 km.
Bring it back to your friendly neighborhood oil changer, if you do not take it to the Dodge dealership /service station. It is still under warranty and it should tell you to follow the maintenance protocol, didnt it?
If you have followed the list religiously and the light came on anyway, there are two causes
1.Incorrect oil sensing system . Something may be malfunctioning in this area
2.Real oil pressure problem - Some people have reported that Fram oil filters cause higher pressure drops because of restrictive flow.
It can be as simple as your having to get another oil change and filter. Bring it to your auto mechanic.

LOW OIL pressure due to oil pump getting ready to go out dirty oil filter viscosity in oil low short in the light busted seal so pressure is falling at a stop.

odds are that your oil pump is getting worn. you should consider replacing it before you experience engine failure.the reason it flickers at an idle is the computer is picking up a low pressure signal. when you pull away from the stop, the pump spins quicker and boosts pressure thus putting out the light. the low pressure at idle is VERY hard on an engine.

Add oil because you car is probably low. the light comes on while you are stopped because the rpms are lower therefore the oil pressure is lower.

Oil pressure is lower at idle because of lower rpms...but it still shouldn't be low enough to trigger the light. Do you have the 2.7 liter engine? if so...you may need a new oil pump soon...which will be costly.

Check oil level immediately for sure and then check for any bad leaks. Without oil the engine will seize/lock up.
