Smirnoff ice IS essentially lemonade, barely flavored with vodka... it's less alcoholic than lager.

After verification. what is sold in the US as "smirnoff ice" indeed is classified as a malt beverage (whatever that means, I thought that malt liquor was a word for beer with more alcohol than the legal definition of beer allows, but that stuff is 5% abv), while what they sell in my native Europe is a pre mixed lemonade/vodka drink, that, as I said, is 4% abv, and indeed weaker than a normal lager (the classic range in France being 4.5-5.5%)

You mean Smirnoff Ice, one of the first that came out...That one has a blend of lemonade...its to compete with other competitor such as Mike's hard lemonade...And yes there is a smirnoff Vodka...and yes the taste is very different... i hope you don't assume that smirnoff only offers one kind of drink?

No- it's a malt beverage. Smirnoff makes a vodka. Coke makes sprite, but Sprite doesn't taste like Coke.

i guess it's just flavored vodka. perhaps they make it that way so the kiddies who think that beer tastes gross can drink the smirnoff instead and hook 'em while they're young.
