The vet exam is not that expensive. The one I see charges $44.50, and is one of the more expensive vets in town. I'm sure that if you were to explain that you needed some financial help, they would work with you. Try checking the yellow pages, there are some vets that advertise that they will work on a payment schedule.

You should take your dog to the vet.
As for the payment plans some vets may do it, but not all of them. The best bet is to call different vets in your area to see if they offer a payment plan. Since many vets," receive no financing from state or federal agencies, and pet health insurance is not thriving." Then they will ask for payment up front.
If the vets do not accept a payment plan the next step would be to apply for care credit through a vet.
"He’s your best pal. Your loyal cuddling partner. Your faithful companion. You don’t even mind those early morning walks. He needs regular checkups, just like the rest of us. He gets sick, too. And CareCredit is here to help keep him healthy. Whether it’s an everyday checkup, or an emergency surgery, we offer you low minimum monthly payment options so you can worry about the important stuff. You know, like playing fetch and learning new tricks."

Sorry to hear about your dog, good luck.

I assume you do know that as a pet owner you have a responsibility to be able to care for your dog as it is the same responsibility as owning a child. Most veterinarians do not have payment plans as they have been burned in the past with delinquent accounts when offering this.
Owning a pet is not a RIGHT - it is a privilege and comes with the same responsibilities as having a child.
You should definitely get him to a vet quickly as he may have something like Parvo virus or Distemper - and the longer you wait the worse things can become.

Take your dog to the vet immediately. Yes they do have payment plans. You need to anticipate the cost of having a pet. You may love your pet but you must provide proper health care. Is it possible your dog ate something harmful without your knowing it?
Maybe you could borrow the money from a friend.

Yes vets do take payment plans, call one that will work with you good. Your dog needs to be seen. If your dog is shivering, I wouldn't messa round with it. Vomiting and shivers are the first symptoms of distemper and once the gum chewing starts, there usually is no going back. Not saying that is what it is but I definately wouldn't leave it alone. Be safe and get him in.

It's really hard to say exactly what the problem is. The vet is the only one who can diagnose and treat him. In my experience, vets do take payment plans and it shouldn't be very expensive, you should take him in to be checked, to make sure it's nothing really serious. I hope the poor little guy feels better soon. Poor Baby!

My vet will allow me to do payment plans, and in an emergency situation like this one, 99% of vets love animals, that 's why they do what they do, whether you can pay right away or not, your vet will help you.
Best case scenario, I think your dog may have a gastro-intestinal illness, stomach flu type of thing. And he needs to go to the vet very very soon (like today!)
Worst case scenario, your dog has eaten something and it is blocked in his stomach or worse the intestines. And your dog may require surgery. I don't think Dachschunds are prone to "bloat" but it sounds like bloat.. sorry hon, I don't want to scare you but bloat kills.
You need to stop reading this answer and get your baby to the vet ASAP.

Any decent vet will take payments. It sounds like he has some sort of blockage or got into something he shouldn't have. Do you have houseplants? Just call around to the vets and see if someone will take payments.

I really don't know how to help you. It may be the food he's eating or it may be his blatter is doing something funky. I don't meen to be rude but the truth is that if you don't have enough money to take him to the vet if he's sick, you should consider selling him. It's the truth and I would never want to be in your situation. Try going to a drug store and finding a medicine. Talk to the store clerk. I really hope I could help.
