I recently became really close friends with this girl. Her brother is someone who I used to hang with alot and had a crush on. He's been locked up for about 4yrs and my friend got him to write me a letter (shes trying to get us hooked up), so we've been writing eachother for a few weeks and he asked if I would wait for him to get out of jail and see how things will work out between us. He is supposed to be home in March which isn't that long of a wait. He says he is not going to get in any more trouble when he gets out because he never wants to go back to jail.

He went to jail for something really stupid but he got alot of time because he had been in trouble before.

What do you think I should do in this situation?

I say give him a chance. People do change, I've seen it with my own eyes. I'm a firm believer in second chances, most of the time. Some cases are just too extreme to warrant a second chance but if he's just there for simple drug possession or theft, you should give it a shot.

Jail might of made him a better person, it might have made him a worse person. My point is, you don't know until you give it a shot and find out. The worst that can happen is a little heart ache. Yeah, it hurts for a time but in the long one it only makes us stronger :)

I'm not sure...I never been in this situation before. But if I were you I would be very careful because people who have been to jail always say that once they get out they will never get in trouble again and that they don't want to go back to jail. But if you like taking chances then go ahead just be careful

I think life and relationship are hard enough as it is. Why in the world would you want to start dating someone who has been in jail ? 4 years is pretty long and I'm sure his mentality has changed. I wouldn't touch him with a 10 ft pole.

Are you crazy? Leave his @ss where you met him. Why would you waste your time on a convicted felon? Sounds to me that this guy has been in trouble a few times, and trust me honey, that is exactly what he spells out...T-R-O-U-B-L-E! Leave that one alone, guys in jail will charm the pants off of you until their feet hits the streets again.

It's better to remain just good friends. A person's character can change in a blink of an eye. My advice is not to trust ANYONE easiliy... ...
