You don't need to be very fluent at all. You'll find that almost everyone in San Juan speaks English. Have fun!!

If you know some Spanish that would be a plus, just take the opportunity to put on practice what you have learned so far. But do not worry, almost everyone speaks English. If they don't they will find a way to communicate with you. And in San Juan area that is very rare.

Everyone in the San Juan area speak english. Why? It is the main tourist area. You will be fine. Dont worry about. If someone doesnt know spanish just move on to someone else cause MOST everyone should know it.

Most people speak english in the tourist area. PR is part of the United States after all.

You can get by with English and the basic Spanish words.

No matter where you go in Puerto Rico, you will always get around quite effortlessly even if you only speak in English.
