My calves and shins are really sensitive and I can't figure out why. They hurt when I just barely hit them on something or if someone even grabs or massages them. Bruise easily. I have been getting spiderviens the last couple years. My left one swells alot of the time. What COULD be wrong? Anything or am I just being paranoid. I do have a thyroid problem but it's been under control for a bit now.
I have a desk job but get up and walk when I can. I'm 24 years old. I've had a sonogram of my veins and arteries in my legs. They are perfect. Doc said I had nothing wrong but wouldn't explain why I have the swelling and spiderviens.
I also show viens really bad in my thighs and calves. Those blue viens. I'm real self conscience about them. I can live with being pale, don't mind that. But the translucent thing bothers me. Anything I can do to help that out?

I sit at work most the day. I wear comfy shoes. I'm not a really fashionable person who would rather have pretty shoes than comfy.
I have my normal tennis shoes which are Van's and very comfy. And when I do end up working out I wear my sketchers normally. Sometimes my Van's cuz I love them so much.
So I don't wear terrible shoes at all.

Some of my clients have shin problems. A lot of the time it is associated with the type of shoes they are wearing. The type of job they have like standing on their feet on concrete floor for long periods of time. If you stand for long periods of time you might want to wear better shoes, not heels and pretty shoes. If you exercise make sure you have the right exercise shoes for the sport (walking shoes for walking, jogging shoes for jogging, aerobic or cross trainers for aerobic and step classes). Make sure you only use your exercise shoes for exercising and not shopping and everyday chores.

Try a naturopathic doctor who will listen to your concerns:

Blueberries and other berries contain anthocyanins that help build integrity of blood vessels, decreasing spider veins. You may need more antioxidants in your diet.

Also, you could be anemic so check your iron levels. Yes, this can be related to your thyroid and any medication you may be taking.

You can try lymph drainage massage which is light and will help to remove excess fluid in your lower legs.

Try contracting and relaxing your calf muscles when you are sitting for a long time.

Again, a professional naturopathic doctor can address all of these issues.

This sounds rather serious. I would go back to the doctor, maybe a different doctor than before.
