We make him go pee before he goes to bed, but if he has to go again he whizzes around his trash can. He doesn't recall doing it in the morning. It happens about once every two months! He doesn't wet his bed either. He's been dry through the night for about 3 years. It's brand new carpet too. Yikes.

My son did this too. He's 9 now. When he was 4 or 5 he would get up to go pee, and pee in the corner or some other random place. Once he even stood on his bed and pee'd. He never remembered any of it. It's something like sleep walking I think. He'll still wake up sometimes and wander into the living room and he looks totally dissoriented and doesn't really answer anything you ask him with a logical answer. I just escort him back to bed and he's fine. I guess it's normal.

Take the trash can out of the room and see if that makes a difference.

That reminds me of what one of my sons did a couple of years ago. My son had fallen asleep on a chair in our living room and woke having to go to the bathroom. He stood up, turned around, and proceeded to drop his pants to pee. Thank heaven we were in the room when this was happening because we were able to get him to the bathroom before he did relieve himself.
