I know there's no proof that it *isn't* God's word, I'm just wondering what proof whynotaskdon is talking about that I'm unaware of.

The bible like the Torah and any other ancient writings are based on faith and handed down through the ages from generation to generation. I do not believe it is for the purpose of verbatim dictation but that it has always been a set of guidelines by which one should attempt to live a decent and purposeful existence in harmony with the world around one. However some of the books of the bible were written and also preserved shortly after the death of Christ.

Proof the Bible is
the Word of God
The Bible is a miracle! The existence of the Bible is evidence of the one Who works miracles.
No Contradictions
First, the Bible was written by about 40 different human writers who lived over a period of about 1500 years (50 generations). Many of these writers had no opportunity to collaborate with each other and yet, there are no contradictions in their writings! Like no other book, the writers all agreed on such themes as morality (which certainly has changed drastically in a few generations in our society), child rearing (likewise a changing philosophy), husband and wife relationships (which have been altered in a single generation), the character of God, the way of salvation and the birth, life, death and resurrection of the Saviour of mankind, in minute details. CHRIST’S RESURRECTION PROVES THAT THE BIBLE IS THE WORD OF GOD.
His resurrection was witnessed by hundreds of people (1 Cor. 15:5-7). Were they all lying? At times, the resurrected Christ was seen by many people at one time. They talked with him, touched him, walked with him, and ate with him. Before the resurrection, the apostles were fearful and were hiding from the authorities. After they saw the resurrected Christ with their own eyes, they became bold and fearless and were willing to lay down their lives for the Gospel. It took a powerful event to cause such a change in their lives.

I believe the Bible is the word of God. For starters, the Hebrew Bible (aka the Old Testament) has a strict tradition of transcription. The oldest dated of documents ever found (the Dead Sea Scrolls) reads almost word for word to any modern day translation (Old Testament- book of Isaiah for example). Also, the New Testament, (written hundreds of years after the Old Testament) has many surviving copies in the original Greek. The validity of the Bible as a historical document cannot be argued. Now you are asking why it is the word of God, there are many prophecies that have come to pass.
Check out the links below:
The most important thing you should know is that the Bible points to the Lord Jesus Christ as our only hope for salvation.
If you seek Him you shall find Him.

Well i guess if you don't wanna be called a Antichrist you would say the Bible is THE God's word and not the book written by a bunch of half witted Roman, Greek and Catholic individuals, who specialize in making statues and building great big architects also with people who actually sell the latter their raw materials, to try and extort a very dumb group of individuals...and that was God's word.....If you say or believe other wise you are a Antichrist and will burn in hell....
You should never question the bible never it is just not done.....:-P

No proof, however, the answer is contained in the book.
"There is only God. There is not that which God hath not made." John 1 vs 3. The Bible is the word of God, so are the instructions that come with your Crock-Pot. God is not separate from Creation, God is creation. The Buddha said, "There is but one God, and Thou art that."

the proof is in the experience one has upon , shall we say agreeing with the author and deciding to take the recomended steps. After this has been done then one becomes aware and this awarness is the proof. Unfortunatly for the the one who seeks this proof it is neither something they can understand b4 taking the recommended steps, nor something that I can explain.
There is a wy to observe the results however. If you know someone who is really undesirable in every respect and at their low point you direct them to a basics church and that one does the recomended steps then watch them and their life and see what happens then If you'd like to appropriate that power in your life well you know how to do that.

The Bible has been proven as the word of God; because a group of corrupt church leaders decided which books were the word of God 1600 years ago.

There is no proof. A few scientists have found proof that a few of the things that happened in the bible really happened, but hey, they did that with the Iliad too, and we didn't take it to mean that the Greek gods are real.

The only way I know the Bible has been proven to be the word of God is by the followers killing those that didn't believe it so. Just look to history, might makes right.

The bible was "proven" to be the word of "God" by committee. That "proof" is strengthened by telling the followers that they must have faith in the book, and anyone who speaks against the book is an agent of Satan and deluded.
