Is it a one owner? does the current owner know the car's maintenance history? How many miles are on the car?
Is the SE-R emblem real and not one purchased from autozone?
Have you looked up the value of the car on http://www.kbb.com ?
Who was the main driver of the vehicle, kid or adult?
These are just a few questions I can think of.

It either has a lot of miles on it, there is something mechanically wrong with it (that's hidden) or, the most common answer, it's been involved in an accident before and now carries a salvaged title. Get a CARFAX report to see if it's been in accident and don't buy it until you're clear that it hasn't. In other words, DO NOT buy a salvaged vehicle.

It is probably a total loss, theft recovery or flood car. Run a carfax or autocheck. If the records are clean have a mechanic look it over before you buy. It sometimes takes awhile for the records to be updated or it could have been never reported. If it sounds too good to be true it always is in the car business.

Do a Kelly Blue Book to get a base price. www.kbb.com
I bought the same car w/ 91,000 miles w/ nismo rims, racing seats, rockford fosgate sounds system intact, and fully detailed inside for 7,500 at a dealship. It was 8,500 but I got him to take 1,000's off.
*Make sure 3rd gear isn't hard to get into
*There was also 4 major recalls on the car, make sure the VIN number isn't effected
www.nissanusa.com/owning/recall_info/
I also have a the dealers mechanical repair manual on Pdf, if you get the car.
good luck
