First things first everyone has a different pain threshold. It depends on where you get your tattoo some places are going to hurt more than others. Body parts such as the foot, hand, ribs, neck, and back are all connected to nerve endings which means yes they hurt more. It's hard to explain what it feels like you have to judge for yourself. For me it felt like a hot needle or pen scraping against my skin. The only risk is if you go to a bad tattoo shop. Make sure they use an autoclave to clean their needles, needles should only be used once and then discarded. Make sure the tattoo shop is clean and you can also ask your tattoo artist questions as well. Good luck with your first tattoo.

Getting a tattoo does hurt depending on where you get it. The closer to bone, the more it will hurt. Also, the outlining really hurts, when I got my tattoo they had a retired nurse there and she gave me a lollipop to suck on, she said this brought out your endorphins (sp?) and count down on the pain a little.

As far as infections or a disease it will depend on how clean the tattoo artist keeps his needles. Ask friends or other people that you notice has a tattoo, who did your tattoo, was the area clean, did they have a license, etc. Do a little research first, this is a big decision but it could turn out great. I got my tattoo when I was 32 and I don't regret it at all, it still looks great and the tattoo artist I used was an ex-marine medic and his wife was a retired nurse, so I felt completely comfortable.

not very high disease risks as there are laws about sterilysation, it kinda feels like a bee sting and someone keeps poking where the bee stung you with a pen or something, i have oone on my lower back, i thought it was going to hrt so much, i was so scared then the needle touched me the first time hugest relief, it stings a bit after a while but its not painful and theres very low risk of infection, all tattoos form a scab, when i got my 1st tattoo i kept twitching my leg for some reason...hope this helps

The feel ranges from an annoying prickly sensation to all out soul searing pain if your tat is over a bony part of the body. There is always a risk of infection/disease when you stick anything into your body. You can minimize this risk by going to a reputable professional tattoo artist. Some states require licenses and inspections of tattoo parlors. If your state does, the license and permit should be displayed prominantly when you walk in the shop. If your state requires it, and you don't see it, walk away.

Talk to guys with tattoos. We all love to tell you about them, thats why we got 'em in the first place. Go to several tattoo parlors before you choose a tattoo, parlor, or artist. Do your research!
You will be stuck with this tattoo for the rest of your life, so be sure it's exactly what you want. Make sure you trust the artist who's doing the work. Ask to see some of his work, (people will be in the shop with his work on their bods, check em out) as well as his flash art (samples on paper). Ask him how he sterilizes his equipment. You want to see his autoclave, a little oven like thing that uses heat and steam to sterilize all instruments that will make contact with your body.

When you are satisfied that the equipment is safe, the artist, artwork, time, and place is right, get a tattoo.

WARNING!!! Dont get names of husbands, wives or girlfriends, boyfriends!!!
Trust me on this one.

It burns, like an Indian burn you got when you were a kid! It's not gonna kill you though. Yes you can get infections if you don't take proper care of it after wards. It's rare but can happen. And yes you can get a disease if the needles and prep area aren't clean. usually that happens with tattoo parties or needle sharing which is NUTZ! Most professional shops are regulated and have to meet code. their artist take pride in their work and don't want a bad rep. Don't compromise price with quality of service

Mine did not hurt. It is an odd sensation, really hard to describe but did not hurt. Yes, you can get an infection or a disease if you go someplace where they use dirty needles. Watch the artist break the seal on the needle he is going to use on you. Feel free to ask him or her lots of questions. If he does not make you feel comfortable go somewhere else. If you don't feel secure, then you'll not enjoy the experience.

first of all find a reputable studio, cutting out the risk of any infection, as for how it feels? the outline is a little scratchy, but not sore, shading and colouring is easier, skin nunbs from the vibration of the gun, course some places on the body are sorer than others to have tattooed, talk to your artist, they are usually only too pleased to talk stuff over with you, keep your new artwork clean and dry and you'll be fine good luck

It hurts if you have a low tolerance for pain.
It would only get infected if you didn't clean in and you could get diseases if the needle wasn't clean.
So go to a professional. Good luck!

By the way, don't listen to that Smitty b*tch, it's your body.

if your good with needles then it shouldnt hurt that bad. but if your not so good with needles then i wouldnt suggest getting a tatoo because they use needles. the needle is very thin and it feels like somebody is scraping your skin with a needle. it doesent feel like that for everybody but thats what it felt like for my mom and two of my friends. and make sure the place you go to always uses fresh new steralized needles so that there is no risk of getting an infection. but just to make sure, clean it everyday with soap and water
